There is one immediately obvious thing about the sky.  It changes.

• The Stars Move
• The Pattern of Stars Changes Throughout the Year
• The Moon Changes both in Location and Shape
• The Planets Move Relative to the Stars
• There are Occasional 'Apparitions', one time events in the sky (Comets or Supernovae)

Patterns of stars on the sky are called "constellations."  Orion, Ursa Major (big dipper), Cygnus (the swan), Andromeda, etc.  There are 88 in all.
